A few weeks ago, I had an amazing photo shoot that was the perfect collaboration! I had the idea of doing a “best friends” session and knew just the friends that I wanted to photograph. You see, before I got married, I was taking salsa lessons with Jenny and often admired Ju’s dancing. Since then, I kept up with Jenny via Facebook, witnessing the fun times she and Ju had with their super stylish friends. “Wouldn’t it be great,” I thought, “if I could photograph them?!” Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and it all came together. Before the shoot, Jenny shared some ideas that she and Ju had about things to incorporate into the session. Once she told me that both she and Ju recently got engaged, I knew that I wanted to make the shoot a little special. So, I reached out to Amberly of Wrennwood Design, and things got underway!
The outfits that Jenny and Ju wore for the first part of the session went perfectly with the design elements that Wrennwood Design brought and/or created. I love how romantic their feminine dresses are with the open lace parasols.
When I mentioned that the two friends are super stylish, I neglected to mention that they are beautiful to boot! I just love Jenny’s purple tights! They bring an unexpected edge to her outfit.
And what’s not to love about Ju’s flowy skirt and blouse?! I just love that, like Jenny, she isn’t afraid to add a pop of color with a bright berry shoe, as you will see later in the post.
Wrennwood Design did a great job of helping to dress up the space in subtle ways, such as with the pink and white tassels in the photo above and a cafe table set below. Also, the white pinwheels she made helped to add some texture to the walls.
Those elements combined with the chalkboard signs and flowers that Jenny and Ju brought were just the right touch to infuse some fun energy into the session. The chalkboard signs were such a sweet way to give a nod to their beaus.
I would imagine that the only thing better than getting engaged is getting engaged around the same time as your best friend. When the stars are aligned, you get a chance to share in the excitement of wedding planning together.
Finally, no session that involves an engagement is complete without a ring shot. Earlier, Jenny and Ju held signs with their fiances’ names. However, they also wanted to share the location where they each got engaged. So, I will end Part 1 with some images of their beautiful and unique engagement rings and a little sneak peek of their outfits for Part 2 of their shoot. Be sure to check back to see the fun props that were used in the second half of the shoot, and feel free to check out Facebook for some more photos from Part 1.
