Current Obsession: Macarons

macaron

This little cookie is a beautifully dressed macaron from Star Provisions in Atlanta.  The day I tried this, I was actually on a hunt for XK Macaron’s vanilla macaron, which is oh sooo good.  However, after my thwarted attempts to locate one, I suddenly remembered that I saw somewhere that Star Provisions makes them, too.  So, off I went.  Although chocolate really isn’t my flavor, I decided to give it a try (along with a couple of chocolate chip cookies since I was there).  Since chocolate IS my husband’s favorite flavor, I actually split it with him.  (I know, I know.  It’s size does not look like it is meant for sharing.)  It was quite yummy!

I’ve since learned that Whole Foods, at least the one on Briarcliff, also sells macarons.  Oh, and there is also the Macaron Queen at Lenox Square Mall.  I’ve tried them all…hence the title of this post.

You can also get them in different cities.  For example, on a recent family reunion to Charleston, SC, I introduced my nephew to these treats at the Macaroon Boutique; I taught him to savor his macaron by consuming it in multiple bites as opposed to just one.  It was so cute watching him take little nibbles.  He was totally hooked and suggested how we could make a modified version at home.  So, there you have it!  I’m totally hooked on macarons!  What is your current obsession?
