One of the things that I love about late-summer and early fall is meeting new families. This one here was an absolute joy to photograph and spend time with!
Mom and dad knew just what to do to set the girls at ease at the beginning of the session. They are actually great tips for any family session with young children:
- Choose a location that is familiar to your children.
- Bring fun props (e.g., butterfly and ladybug wings).
- Start and end the day with a treat.
In this session, mom and dad both promised to take the girls to the playground after the session AND brought along bread for them to feed the ducks at the beginning of the session. What fun! A time-limited activity at the start of the day is a great way to get young kids into the session.
Afterward, it was time to really start the session. Having two sisters of my own, I love witnessing sisterly bonds. It was clear that big sister “L” and little sister “L” are great friends.
The two sisters had so much fun together and fed off of each other’s energy. Yet, each had her own distinct personality. Little sis was a bit shy at first, but she quickly opened up. She had fun playing in the vintage phone booth. As you can probably tell, big sis loved to laugh; it was such a joy. But, she also had her serious moments, too.
And, of course, mom and dad stayed nearby throughout the shoot, ready to jump in to continue creating lasting family memories.
Thanks, L Family for such a fun day in the park! Until next time…
