Guess what? It’s National Brownie Day! I know, I know. There seems to be a day for everything. Well, with lots of holiday potlucks going on left and right, I thought I’d share a simple holiday dessert that is sure to make you the hit of the party.
Trifles, layered desserts, are both easy to make and beautiful to present…especially when they are styled by Katelyn Hardwick. Simply start with a layer of brownies, add in some cherries (canned is fine), and top the layer with whipped cream. (I’ve added a fun slideshow at the end of the post to show you this layering process.) To me, homemade whipped cream tastes better than the prepackaged kind, so go ahead and whip some up! You just need some heavy cream and sugar. Here is a recipe by Alton Brown so that you know how much of each you need.
If you don’t have a trifle dish, you can use one of those convertible cake dish/salad bowls. Or, you can make individual servings in small, clear vessels if you are hosting the party at home. Now, you are ready to present your pretty dessert! What’s your favorite dish or dessert to take to a potluck?
